Ashley Bungalow

Description: Built by the Baker family, Ashley Bungalow is the oldest surviving planters bungalow in Peermedu. The original ambiance and decor has been carefully preserved to reflect the life style of the early British planter. Situated at 4000ft above sea level among the tea plantations, the famous Periyar Tiger reserve is just an hour drive away. The Building stands, commanding magnificent view facing South, at the opening of Ghat on the valley that flows down gently to the plains below.

Tyford Bungalow 

Description: The bungalow, built in 1985, was named by Mrs. Baker as Tyford Bunglow, as she hails from Tyford, Berkshire in England. The colonial style building is built of archaic stone masonry and Indian woodwork. The low-pitched roof style lends the indoors a calm and cool atmosphere. Tyford Estate is 2500 acres of land at 3400 ft. above sea level, which transcends any visitor into tranquility.

Kalaketty Estate

Description: Nestled in the midst of a lush green 150 acre estate is the traditional Syrian Christian home. A family of planters who have been living in this ancestral home for the past 3 generations. The house built in 1930 is set amidst old and huge Mahogany, Teak, Mangostene, Nutmeg and Clove trees and overlooks lush green paddy fields. Rubber is the main crop grown on the estate, besides cocoa, tapioca, pepper, vanilla, rice, coconuts, bananas and pineapples.
