Compared to other Indian states, Kerala lies closer to the equator. Yet Kerala is bestowed with a pleasant and equable climate through out the year.The temperature normally ranges from 28° to 32° C (82° to 90° F). The state basically enjoys 4 types of climate such as Winter ,Summer ,South West Monsoon and North East Monsoon . The winter season sets in during the month of December and continues till end of February. During this season comparatively there is less rainfall especially in the northern parts of the state. Winter is followed by the summer season. Its tarts in February and continues till May. Temperature is very high during this period.
Occasional showers with lightning is a characteristic of this season. Kottayam receives the highest rainfall during this season. The South West Monsoon begins either in the end of May or in the beginning of June and fades out by September. Moving towards north, this seems to gain intensity. During this period Peerumedu in Idukki and Vaithiri-Kuttiyadi range in Malabar receive the highest rainfall. The rainfall is comparatively low in the Lakshadweep islands. In the southern areas the monsoon is around 40-50% and in the northern areas it is around 80%.The NorthEast Monsoon commences in October, dry weather setting in by the end of December. Winter and Summer (November - May) are the peak tourist seasons.
Day 1 Cochin - Munnar ( approx 130 kms ):
On arrival at the Cochin airport or the railway station proceed to the scenic hill station of Munnar with its sprawling tea plantations. Enjoy the scenic beauty and the marvelous waterfalls, high mountains with the low flying clouds passing by. On arrival check in at the hotel / Resort booked for you. The nature-lover's paradise. Snuggling in the green and serene Kannan Devan Hills, lies the quite and restful resort of Munnar, at an altitude of 1524 m Panoramic views of low-flying clouds and mist filled valleys make it a pretty little heaven with a cool bracing climate. It was opened up out of virgin forests a century ago by pioneering planters. It offers the best opportunity you are ever likely to have to see the tea plantations, to watch tea being picked, to learn how tea is processed, to smell the sweet scent of tea wafting through the air and to buy the tea directly from the gardens. Day 2 In Munnar
After breakfast proceed for sightseeing of Munnar. Visit the tea gardens spread like a green carpet over hundreds of kilometers and the lush green hills. Visit Raja Malai, a top peak of Munnar where you can see Nilgiri Thar (mountain goats), Also visit Mattuputty dam where you can enjoy boating in the lake (optional) and Indo Swiss project. You may also wish to visit the Echo point and the Attukad water falls.

Day 3 In Munnar
This morning after breakfast, enjoy some trekking at the Lock Heart Gap, which is located about 13 kms from Munnar . Or simply relax at the Hotel.

Day 4 Munnar - Thekkady ( approx 100 kms )
This morning head towards Thekkady, driving through the tea estates and the spice forests. Enroute visit the Power House Waterfalls that cascades down a steep rock 2000 m above sea level. The spot is enriched with the scenic Western mountain ranges.
On arrival in Thekkady, check in at the hotel / resort booked for you Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Thekkady is one of the largest in India occupying 777 sq kms of land in the cardamom hills at the heart of Thekkady district. The resident herd of wild elephants is the parks star attraction, and every day visitors flock to the lake side to watch them gambol in the shallow waters, The park is also a home to spotted deers, tigers, sambers bison , malabar flying squirrels and over 260 bird species.

Day 5: In Thekkady
Early morning enjoy a boat ride on the beautiful Lake Periyar located in the Periyar Wildlife sanctuary which is the best way to experience the sanctuary (at an extra cost).
Early evening go on a Spice Plantation Tour (at an extra cost). Later return to the hotel.
Overnight at the hotel / resort in Thekkady.
Day 6 Thekkady - Cochin (approx 150kms ) - Back home
Early this morning enjoy an elephant safari (at extra cost). Later return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, check out of the hotel and head towards the Cochin airport to board your flight for your onward journ
